Safety issues

Time and time again we go out to Barbeques that have caught fire. Sounds very dramatic? Well it can be and it can also be very distressing and a concern for the BBQ Owner:

Let’s give you a few simple tips to help prevent it happening:

  • Never use a garden hose on a BBQ
  • Never let the fat / drip tray gets too dirty with a build up of fat, this has to be the biggest cause of a fat fire!
  • Always check the hose connections are Gas Tight and use a little washing up liquid and water with a brush to check, (this is the second biggest cause of a fire!)

ESPECIALLY CHECK THE BOTTLE CONNECTION WHEN CHANGING IT!

  • Never let children operate your Barbeque even when it’s off, as, rest assured they will operate and try it when it’s on and hot!
  • Treat the surfaces of your Barbeque as hot and keep children away from your Barbeque when you are cooking.
  • NEVER leave your Barbeque on and unattended, if you do, turn it off and then back on when you continue cooking.
  • Keep your Barbeque Clean and in good condition, it’s no good saying: “Well it’s outside so it doesn’t matter!”

Some barbeques are more costly than Kitchen Hotplates and Ovens and most of us keep them clean. Think what it would be like if your Barbeque was in the Kitchen, you would clean it then wouldn’t you?

Most Barbeques are a Big Budget Purchase, bit like a TV, get it checked annually by a licensed gas fitter for performance and to check for leaks.

A Clean BBQ is a healthy BBQ a dirty BBQ is a bio-hazard as well as a fire hazard!
