I have had a few calls recently on what is approved and what is not in the way of Gas Appliances including Barbeques & Pizza Ovens, hope that the information in this blog helps....Ross.

On a Total Fire Ban day, it is illegal to light an open-air fire or conduct any activity that could start a fire. Some of these activities are prescribed in the Bush Fires Regulations 1954 meaning they can be carried out during a TFB, providing you comply with the conditions listed here.

Do I need a Rangehood for my Barbecue in an Alfresco Area..? You have just bought your Barbecue for your Alfresco area, do I really need a Rangehood? Now remember that a fully or partially enclosed area cannot have an outdoor BBQ installed in it.

Remember that we keep in stock most old BBQ conversion kits to go back to LPG, mainly Barbeques Galore Brands. We have just done one that was converted incorrectly to Natural Gas back to LPG:

No Natural Gas sticker

No turn down bi-pass adjusted

No Gas Fitter sticker

Indoor approved Barbeques or Grills arent as pretty as outdoor ones as they are function for safety as well as grilling!

Can I use a BBQ during a Total Fire Ban?

Yes, you can!

Gas and Electric BBQs can be used under certain conditions.

However, BBQs and Pizza Ovens which use solid fuels is prohibtied for use during a total fire ban.

ALL BBQ gas repairs, whether LPG or Natural Gas MUST only be repaired or serviced by a qualified and licenced Gas Fitter, NEVER a local handyman.!!
