Coleman Revolution Dual fuel BBQ Review
I have just put together the dual fuel BBQ that Coleman kindly sent to me for review. Yes, dual fuel Charcoal and Gas in separate BBQs but joined together!
It is really good to see charcoal coming back into fashion as it really is the way to BBQ...A lot of the manufacturers are looking at dual fuel and its great to see that Coleman are ‘ahead of the race’ as they are becoming popular over here in OZ.
Just remember that you have two BBQs in one, a charcoal one and a Gas one, great idea. I have cooked on both but to have it as a team is great!
Anyway, back to the assembly... It took me about 4.5 hours to assemble, lots of individual components and you will need quite a lot of space.
The points good and not too bad:
It comes in an enormous box on a pallet but well packed and has supports inside the packaging for the BBQ items. They are also all well laid out with plenty of polystyrene to protect the various components.
I took basically everything out and placed them around my workshop, that way they were easier to find. Coleman always has lots of bits to their BBQ’s but if you read the instructions carefully and are patient they read well.
Tip: Find the instructions first!
I assembled it on my own, because I am used to assembling BBQ’s but to the novice you will need two people as that will take less time. Don’t forget as I said previously there are basically two BBQs to put together. The components are well made and it was a pleasure to find that everything fitted and was good quality.
They don’t put any cheap tools in the box or a battery that I could find for the ignition. I would have thought for the price they could have included some. I would also suggest that it would be worth paying to have it assembled if you are not a Handyman. Ask the store when you buy it for the name of an assembly Company, most have their own people. I just love the flare free technology and that was one of the reasons I would go for this BBQ, it’s very innovative. I reckon for $2000 RRP to get two in one is a huge benefit and it looks great once assembled.
Coleman have put a lot of effort into this one and it shows, I have done a lot of work for them over the years and it was great to see them with new items. I haven’t cooked on it yet but I am sure it will be fun and 75% fat free as I know that most BBQ fires are caused by using too much fat and not cleaning drip trays so that’s a first so well-done Coleman!
My rating out of 10 flames for this one is 9.0 which I know is a high score but is does look awesome! Remember that it is great to find a BBQ that’s well built and looks good...I am looking forward to cooking on it, maybe a nice big beef Scotch Fillet...!
Tip: When you fire it up remember that the middle burner goes on first as that is where the ignition probe is, once lit the other burners will light off it.
Coleman supplied the cover as well as the ‘tools case’ including kebab skewers that I love!
I have also done a video of the features which will be uploaded soon. Ross Barbitec
