Privacy Statement

The Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 requires companies to comply with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs). This document describes Barbitec’s Privacy Policy.

Barbitec is committed to the new Australian privacy legislation in the way it collects, uses, secures and discloses personal information.

The information we collect

We lawfully collect personal information that is necessary for our business to function. The information we collect and hold will depend upon the products and services you request from us and may include: Information you provide us when you purchase goods or services. This information will include your name, address and contact details.

Information derived from communications between us and you.

The use of the facilities and services available through our website will determine the amount and type of information we collect. The only personal information we collect when you use our website is what you tell us about yourself, for example, by completing an online form when you request product information, or when you send us email we will record your mail address.

How we use your information.

We use the information we collect for the purpose disclosed at the time of collection, or otherwise as set out in this Privacy Statement. We will not use your personal information for any other purpose without first seeking your consent, unless authorised or required by law. Generally we will only use and disclose your personal information:

_ To establish and maintain your relationship as a customer of Barbitec.

_ To provide the products and services you have requested from Barbitec

_ To administer and manage those products and services.

_ To answer your inquiry.

For direct marketing by email, specials on products or services you have shown interest in.

If we contact you in this way without obtaining your prior consent, we will provide you with the opportunity to decline any further marketing communications. If you at any time receive any communication from Barbitec which you would not like to receive, please contact us and we will remove your name from our mailing list.

Access to your personal information

In most cases, you can gain access to the personal information that Barbitec holds about you, subject to some exceptions allowed by law.

If you would like to check or amend your contact details, please contact us. We will deal with all requests for access to personal information as quickly as possible.

In addition, when you look at the web site of Barbitec, our Internet Service Provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

• Your server address
• Your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)
• The pages you accessed and documents downloaded
• The previous site you have visited
• The type of browser you are using.

Access to information collected

Barbitec will not make an attempt to identify users or their browsing activities. However, in the unlikely event of an investigation, a law enforcement agency may exercise its legal authority to inspect our Internet Service Provider's logs.

Use and disclosure of information collected

We will not disclose information about your individual visits to our Web site or any of the personal information that you provide such as your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address or credit/debit card details to any outside parties without your consent except when required by law to do so.

Barbitec will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message. Your e-mail address will only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which you have provided it and it will not be added to a mailing list or used or disclosed for any other purpose without your consent unless you have specifically requested such action or require additional information regarding our services or products by an email, which has been replied to by Barbitec.. 

Please also note that the information that we do provide through emails or Newsletters are specifically related to Barbeques or BBQ Products such as cooking etc., It is not and never has been our intention to send you information that you do not necessarily subscribe to and we apologise if at any time this information has been sent and is not subscribed to.

Should we use your email address to contact you with regard to specific Barbeque related items and this is not in accordance with your wishes then upon a communication from you we will remove your email address forthwith and no further contact will be made.

Users are advised that there are inherent risks transmitting information across the Internet.

Security

Barbitec will take reasonable steps to keep secure any personal information which we hold and to keep this information accurate and up to date. Personal information is stored in a secure server or secure files.

The Internet is not always a secure method of transmitting information. Accordingly, Barbitec cannot accept responsibility for the security of information you send to, or receive from us over the Internet or for any unauthorised access or use of that information

Changes to this Privacy Policy

It may be necessary for us to review and revise our Privacy Policy from time to time. An amended version will be posted on our website at www.barbitec.com. We suggest that you visit our website regularly to keep up to date with any changes.

Media Policy .. 'All Things BBQ' Workshops and other Events.

All Photography, Videos and 'Stills' are taken by our official Photographer Chantal (or other Authorised person) - If you would NOT like your photograph or image being filmed at any of our 'All Things BBQ' Workshops or anywhere where we are conducting classes or Events please let us know on the day. All media taken will be subject to the States privacy laws however, we may ask you at some stage to still authorise a disclaimer provided by us. Copyright of all media will be owned by Barbitec. Out of courtesy, for Photos or videos taken at any 'All Things BBQ' Workshops or other Events permission must be granted either from Chantal (our official photographer), Alma (Ross's Agent) or Ross, before they are taken, permission will not normally be withheld as we are glad for the publicity.

Please bare in mind though that sharing on social media may constitute a copyright breach so permission from BARBITEC is essential prior to any publication.

NOTE: If the workshop (or any other event) is at anytime being recorded and Ross asks if you are OK to be filmed, unless informed otherwise, this will be considered  'Complete Acceptance'  to our media policy and therefore any further authorisation by Barbitec will not be required.
