Meet Ross
Ross has owned and run Barbitec for over 25 years in Perth, knows the in’s and out’s of Barbecuing and now dedicates his time to cooking, famously known for the first ‘WA BBQ Chef’ to start BBQ cooking classes back in early 2000.
This website, is all, cooking, BBQ Maintenance, regulations, tips and many ways to make your BBQ experience better, so browse and feel free to send him questions on anything BBQ..
Having spent years in the Gas & Oil business qualifying in the UK and then re-qualifying in Australia, he is a certified licensed Gas fitter specialising in Barbecues.
Passionate about food, wine, cooking and recipes you can follow him daily on his Instagram page for cooking tips and advice. He is the author of four books, his latest being ‘British & Australian BBQ Secrets- V3 ‘Fish & Crustaceans ‘ written jointly with UK Celebrity Chef Ben Bartlett (aka BBQ BEN). At least 3 more coming in the series making 6 books in total.
His next book in the ‘Secrets’ series Volume 4 will be a re-write of his first ‘Drongo’s’ book due early 2026.

Meet Ben Bartlett- aka BBQ Ben
BBQ Ben is one of the UK’s foremost demonstration chefs and was the first winner of Britain’s Best BBQ’er.
Recently appointed a director of ‘Love British Food’. His many talents include being a Board Member of Master Chefs of Great Britain. He has won many BBQ competitions worldwide and now acts as a Judge for many. Ben is currently running BBQ Cooking demonstrations around the UK. He has appeared on the BBC’s Ready Steady Cook and is a regular on British TV and Radio.
Ben has co-written ‘British & Australian BBQ Secrets’ Volume I, Volume 2 ‘Roasts, Rubs & BBQ Blends’ and Volume 3 ‘Fish & Crustaceans – From the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean’ with Ross Yarranton and three more ‘Secrets’ books will be in the pipeline making a series of 6 in total. Volume 3 has just been published and is available on Amazon.
